Northern Labrador

Labrador Outdoors prides itself in running some of the finest hunting and fishing camps in Labrador and Quebec.

Our northern Labrador camps at Umiakovik Lake offers superb Arctic char angling in a scenic setting unparalleled in eastern Canada. And our migratory hunts in western Labrador and eastern Quebec have enjoyed a 100% success rate since we went completely mobile a few years ago. No matter which camp you hunt or fish, quality is the name of the game, and our promise to you is to provide a world class experience you will long remember.

Being hunters and fishermen ourselves and having spent many hours in the bush, we realize a hearty meal before and after your day afield is welcome. For many, it is a much anticipated part of the overall experience. Labrador Outdoors hire professional cooks for its camps at Umiakovik, and migratory camps. Their sole duty is to prepare quality food and plenty of it. All our cooks are experienced at working in the bush, at preparing meals in a fishing or hunting camp situation, and testimony for our guests over the years suggests they do an excellent job. At most camps, home made breads, biscuits and desserts are a specialty, and there is nothing quite like returning from a day's hunt or fishing and having the smell of freshly bakes bread filling the air!

Although the menu might vary depending upon which camp you visit, breakfast generally consists of eggs, bacon, toast and juice, or french toast or pancakes. Hot and cold cereal are also often available. Many visitors hunt or fish through the day, and a "shore lunch" is generally prepared. This consists of a sandwich(s), cookies, fruit and other snacks and tea.

The evening meals is the big meal of the day. At most camps the typical meal consists of meat (beef, chicken, ham, etc.), potatoes, vegetables, salad, homemade bread or biscuits and dessert. Pasta is also served along with soups and stews. There is always plenty of it, so eat to your heart's content.

The routine at all our camps is rather informal. Upon arrival, the camp manager generally takes a consensus at which hours everyone would like to eat, and that will be your schedule for the week. Normally, however, breakfast is served between 7a.m. and 8a.m. and the evening meal between 5p.m. and 6p.m. Again, these hours are flexible, depending upon the preference in camp.

We would also like to stress, our camps are your home away from home. Come and go as you please, and set your own routine. Some fishermen at Umiakovik often return to camp early to enjoy a drink or relax before supper, and then fish again after eating. Some fish right through supper and eat a snack or light supper before retiring. Whatever your heart's desire, we will accommodate it whenever possible.

Finally, if you have any special dietary needs, please let us know before your arrival. We will do our best to suit your needs and wishes. Also, if you wish wine, beer or soda in camp, again let us know. We will have it waiting for you in camp, or arrangements will be made for you to pick it up in Goose Bay or Schefferville before departing for camps. These beverages are an extra cost and not included in your package price.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to call us at 1-888-244-7824.
